Sinfield on verge of yet more history tonight

Legendary Leeds Rhinos captain is on the verge of creating more history in the club’s West Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield Giants tonight, as he could potentially move up a place on the all-time leading scorers list.

Sinfield has notched an incredible 3,972 points during a career which has seen him win every domestic honour in the game – and his points tally is already comfortably the highest in Leeds’ history, after surpassing the great Lewis Jones on 3,445.

But 14 points for Leeds tonight against the Giants will see him jump up from fifth on the standings into fourth – above former Warrington and Bradford stalwart John Woods, who scored 3,985 points in a 16-year career.

Should Sinfield get past Woods, his next target would be the legendary Gus Risman, who has 4,050. It seems inevitable Sinfield will also pass Risman at some point this season, too.

Third would appear to be as high as Sinfield will get though, as the all-time leading scorers list below illustrates. Still, Sinfield’s personal points tally in the televised game tonight is well worth keeping an eye on.
