Widnes Vikings head coach, Dennis Betts accepted that the Vikings are set for the middle eights, after their 34-20 defeat to Castleford.
Denny Solomona’s hat-trick put the Vikings to the sword, and Betts admitted that they now face an uphill task to make the top eight.
“I saw this game as the one that would decide where we’d finish,” said Betts. “It’s going to be tough for us now; we need to win all three of our remaining games to even give ourselves a chance.”
“And we’ve still got to go to Wigan away, so that makes it a bit of an uphill struggle.”
