Huddersfield Giants are expected to throw young forward, Nathan Mason in at the deep end for Friday’s trip to St Helens, after naming him in their 19-man squad for the game.
Mason, who has so far made only one senior appearance for the club, is likely to replace Anthony Mullally, who has been left out of the squad on a selection basis.
Despite Mason’s inexperience in Super League action, Giants’ boss, Paul Anderson believes the 21 year-old, Oldham-born youngster is ready to take the step up.
“At this stage, there’s a very good chance Nathan will play,” said Anderson, “and if he does, I know he will give a very good account of himself.
“Nathan has had to be patient over the past couple of seasons, but it has now got to the stage where we have to pick him, because he deserves to be picked.
“He has been doing a very good job at Oldham, where his game has been developing all the time, and everyone at the Giants is confident he can take that form into Friday night’s game.”
