Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has revealed that forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan will miss nine months of action due to the knee injury suffered in the Challenge Cup semi-final win against St Helens.
Jones-Buchanan was stretchered off after rupturing a quad tendon in the win late last month, with initial fears that he would miss between six and nine months of action.
But McDermott has confirmed the injury lies at the more severe end of the predicted lay-off, meaning Jones-Buchanan will now miss a significant part of the 2016 season as well as the rest of this year.
They are also facing up to the news that Paul Aiton has played his last game for the club, too. Aiton, who is set to switch to Catalans Dragons in 2016, broke his arm during the win against Warrington last week, with McDermott revealing he will not play again this year.
The Rhinos tweeted: “Brian McDermott’s confirmed to press that JJB out for 9 months after surgery & Paul Aiton’s season over due to complicated dislocated wrist”.
