Leeds leave Watkins and Moon out for Hull trip

Leeds Rhinos have named a fairly strong squad for this Friday’s trip to Hull FC as they prepare for the Challenge Cup Final next weekend.

Both Kallum Watkins and Joel Moon have been omitted from the squad, but apart from that most of Leeds’ big hitters have been included for the trip to the KC Stadium on Friday night.

Rhinos coach Brian McDermott welcomes back Josh Walters, Robbie Ward, Ashton Golding and Ash Handley into the 19-man squad for the game, whilst Mitch Achurch is also included – although he will have to pass the necessary concussion assessment after being knocked out against Wigan.

“In the grand scheme of things we will be standing one or two players down this week and it’s the right thing to do,” said McDermott.

Adam Cuthbertson is in the 19-man squad – although McDermott revealed he is nursing an injury which may prevent him from playing.

“Adam Cuthbertson is not going to be right, injuries have restricted him training with us this week. He’s got a finger issue, a very painful one, and the smart thing to do is stand him down this week and he should be available for next week.”

The squad in full is:
1. Zak Hardaker
2. Tom Briscoe
5. Ryan Hall
6. Danny McGuire
7. Rob Burrow
8. Kylie Leuluai
10. Jamie Peacock
12. Carl Ablett
