Lunt: You either want to win it or be knocked out early

Hull Kingston Rovers hooker Shaun Lunt has admitted his approach to the cup is simple after two defeats in the final – you either want to win it or be knocked out at the first hurdle.

Lunt has suffered the heartbreak of losing twice in a Challenge Cup Final – once whilst playing for this weekend’s opponents Leeds back in 2012 – and he revealed that he’s desperate to finally get his hands on the famous old trophy at the first attempt this weekend.

“It has been brilliant to be involved in but one of those things where you want to win it or get knocked out in the first round,” Lunt told the Hull Daily Mail.

“Nobody wants to lose in this competition because it’s steeped in such massive history and is such a prestigious trophy.

“I just want to get my hands on it and give it a big kiss one day. Hopefully it will be third time lucky.”
