Hull FC coach Lee Radford has said that despite a massive amount of injuries and no chance of making the top four, his side cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves in the final few weeks of the season.
Defeat to Warrington last weekend confirmed that FC will not make the semi-finals in the Super 8s, and they will head to Wigan on Friday night with an incredibly youthful side after a number of senior players were ruled out injured.
But Radford has taken a positive slant on the situation, and says some of the club’s academy stars will get an opportunity to thrive instead.
“It gives us a great opportunity to give some more of our academy players a proper chance in the first-team,” he said.
“It is obviously a massive blow to have so many first-team players missing but we will still look to put up as strong a side as possible against Wigan.
“It is what it is and we have to take it on the chin. We cannot sulk and feel sorry for ourselves.”
