On the Wembley trail

The 2016 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup first round draw took place this afternoon in the famous surroundings of Wembley Stadium.

The draw was made in the dressing room, a familiar setting for Leeds Rhinos winger and 2015 Lance Todd Trophy winner, Tom Briscoe who was picking the home balls. Away teams were drawn by Lizzie Jones, who performed Abide With Me prior to last year’s Challenge Cup final.

Thirty-six clubs representing the community game, Armed Forces, police and University Rugby League were drawn against each other and will begin the famous journey in pursuit of Rugby League’s oldest and most prestigious trophy that ends back in the capital on Saturday August 27.

First round ties will played over the weekend of January 30 – 31.
