Halifax RLFC could be without EIGHT members of their first-team squad for the start of the Championship season.
Simon Grix, Miles Greenwood, Steve Tyrer, Gareth Potts, Ross Divorty, Adam Robinson, Gavin Bennion and Gareth Moore are all recovering from injuries, with all of them facing a race against time to be fit for the start of the season on February 7th.
It has resulted in head coach Richard Marshall naming all of his fit players in the squad for Fax’s opening pre-season clash with Huddersfield on Sunday.
Six of Marshall’s casualties follow post-season operations while new signing Gavin Bennion and Gareth Moore has been forced to have an operation on his foot following injury.
The latest casualty is Gareth Moore, who has suffered a facial injury, although Marshall is hopeful he will be fit for the start of the season. However, Simon Grix and Miles Greenwood are both highly doubtful to be fit for Halifax’s opening Championship fixture on February 7th while the other five are doubts.
“We had a number of post-season operations, which were as a result of us doing so well last year and players taking to the field busted.
“It’s not a big issue, we’ve got a couple of kids to step up in the friendlies so we’re looking forward to seeing those guys plays, it’s a benefit of the reserve grade really.”
