Wigan Warriors face an anxious wait to discover the seriousness of Lee Mossop’s shoulder injury.
The prop-forward suffered the injury during Wigan’s pre-season defeat to Leigh and didn’t return to the field after going off just before half-time.
Mossop’s history with shoulder injuries has increased concern for the Cumbrian forward. He has had major operations on both of his shoulders in the past and returned to Wigan in 2015 following a short stint at NRL side Parramatta Eels, in which he only made three appearances.
Shaun Wane and the rest of the Wigan staff will not know the full extent of the injury until the swelling has died down in Mossop’s shoulder, but the Warriors head coach is hopeful that it isn’t too serious.
“We’re hoping it’s not too bad, we’ll know more in a few days,” he said. “It’s not the (type of injury) he’s had before, it was more of a stinger at the back of the shoulder, so hopefully he’ll be fine,” Wane told Wigan today.
