Warrington Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith believes Kurt Gidley and Chris Sandow have plenty of improvement left in them despite impressive performances in their 46-4 defeat of Leigh.
In what was their first appearance together as a halfback pairing, the pair was far too good for the Centurions, setting up a number of tries while Gidley crossed for a score of his own.
However, Smith insists we haven’t seen the best of them yet.
“They were both very good,” Smith told the Warrington Guardian.
“They showed some of what they are capable of.
“I think there’s more to come from all of the players and individually they all showed where they are currently at, which is good.
“Most players from Sunday would get a tick in the ‘good box’ for this stage of the year but I think there’s a lot of improvement in us across the board.
“And I think Chris and Kurt will improve throughout the season.
“I liked it when they worked together against Leigh. I thought their kicking game was pretty good, with Chris predominantly on the kicking game today.
“I thought they combined well and did a good job.”
