Warrington Wolves have confirmed that a pitch inspection will be held at Barrow’s Craven Park ground on Thursday morning ahead of the scheduled friendly on Friday.
The game, which is Warrington’s last warm-up match before the Super League opener against Leeds next Thursday, was one in which Tony Smith had promised to send a strong squad to – but it is now in doubt.
The current condition of the pitch in Cumbria means that the game is now unconfirmed until RFL officials inspect the pitch.
Warrington said on their website: “Player welfare is key ahead of a brand new season so official confirmation as to whether the game will take place will only be announced across our website and media channels once a full pitch inspection by a third party has taken place.”
