Police have confirmed that they are launching an investigation into the events that followed Salford’s win against Huddersfield on Easter Monday.
An altercation broke out following the Red Devils’ 26-24 win against the Giants, with some of the Salford players stepping into the away end as reports suggest their families had become distressed.
Inspector Jon Dunkerley, of the Huddersfield Partnership Working Area, said: “We are aware of articles in the media of reported disorder following the Huddersfield Giants game on Bank Holiday Monday. West Yorkshire Police were not in attendance at the fixture but were called at 4.53pm once the match had finished.
“Officers attended and assisted stewards in a crowd control situation outside the ground. No crimes have so far been reported and no arrests made.
“We have since spoken to the club who are working closely with the Rugby League and we are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
“We would urge anyone who believes they have been a victim of an offence to please contact PC Richard Nicholls on 101.”
