League Express’ Challenge Cup quarter-final gamestars

This week, our League Express match reporters picked out the star player from every Challenge Cup quarter-final.

Here are the four stars who were picked out.

Huddersfield v Wakefield – David Fifita

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS V WAKEFIELD TRINITY WILDCATS 018

Simply put, Huddersfield could not handle the big man.

Fifita’s impact rattled the Giants from the off and his powerful running, surprisingly nimble feet and ball-handling skills tormented the opposition throughout.

He didn’t have a great debut, but he showed Wakefield what he’s all about in this match.

Warrington v Widnes – Kurt Gidley

Gidley Warrington

The vastly experienced Wolves man controlled the game like a conductor of the finest orchestra.

A master craftsman, Gidley will have a similar influence throughout the year.

Hull FC v Catalans – Scott Taylor

Scott Taylor

He’s been a standout star all year, and that continued as he put in another sensational display.

Taylor is quickly becoming the league’s star forward and is rightfully in the mix for an England shirt at the end of the year.

Wigan Warriors v Castleford Tigers – Sam Tomkins

Tomkins Wigan

The fullback appears to be getting back to his best in attack as he scored another try on his return.

Meanwhile, he also produced an impressive defensive stint as well.

Good signs for both Wigan and England.
