Steve Michaels admits his Hull FC future is ‘out of his hands’, but is determined to taste success with the club should it be his final year at the KCOM Stadium.
The Australian is expected to leave the Airlie Birds at the end of the season following the signings of Josh Griffin and Jake Connor for the 2017 season, which would bring an end to his two-year stay in West Hull following his move from Gold Coast Titans.
However, the 28-year-old, who scored in the club’s Challenge Cup quarter-final victory over Catalans, insists his current focus is to win a trophy with the club and end on a high should he leave the club.
“It’s out of my hands,” he told the Hull Daily Mail. “Obviously, I’m a quota spot. If this is my last year it’s definitely no hard feelings. I’m just desperate to win something so it’s giving me more encouragement to try and pick up a trophy.
“We are not getting ahead of ourselves but it’s certainly exciting because we are 80 minutes away from a final. It will be a great game next month. Everyone has been saying we have been winning without playing well but I thought we really put it together against Catalans. We are full of confidence.”
