Handley unsure if he’ll play for Featherstone against Bradford

Leeds Rhinos youngster Ash Handley has confirmed he doesn’t yet know if he will play for Featherstone in their top four decider against Bradford at the weekend.

Handley has scored twice for Rovers in three appearances this year under dual-registration rules, most recently playing in their 44-22 victory over Workington.

The 20-year-old didn’t feature in for Leeds or Featherstone this weekend as he recovers from injury, although teammates Ashton Golding, Anthony Mullally and Jordan Baldwinson all played their part in helping Fev move to within one victory of a top four spot.

Ahead of Featherstone’s must-win game against the Bulls, Handley revealed on Monday that nothing has been sorted yet as he waits to discover if he will be fit or not.

“If I can get fit and I can play this week I’ll give my all. But it’s still early days yet and I don’t know where I’m at or where I am with my fitness at the moment. It’s just a bit of an overload injury I have at the minute, I just need it to settle and return to full form and fitness rather than carrying an injury.

“They (Featherstone) are doing really well. They had three tough games to make the four and won two now, so it should be a cracker on Sunday. There’s a good set of lads and players down there, they just needed to string some form together, and they’re doing it now when it matters.”
