Evans could leave Warrington

Warrington Wolves forward Ben Evans is considering a number of options ahead of 2017, and could still move before the deadline.

The 23-year-old Wales international has been on the fringes of the Warrington side this year and is back at the Wolves after recently impressing at Leigh, which prompted their head coach Neil Jukes into saying he would like to keep the forward.

However, Evans is considering his long-term future, and League Express understands that his representatives have received enquiries from both Super League and NRL after also impressing in the Wolves’ reserve grade this season.

Evans has yet to play for the Wolves this year, and with Mike Cooper set to join the club in 2017, it is understood that Tony Smith would not stand in Evans’ way if he had the opportunity to further himself elsewhere.

He joined the Wolves in 2014 after an impressive spell at Bradford, where he made 17 appearances in the 2013 season. His performances that year earnt him a place in Wales’ World Cup squad, playing twice and scoring in their defeat to Italy.

He made 18 appearances in 2014, but was restricted to just four games in 2015. His limited opportunities this year have made Evans, brother of Wolves centre Rhys, consider his options elsewhere.

Salford were reportedly interested in signing him before the deadline, but TotalRL understands a deal couldn’t be put in place. Bradford could potentially make a late play for him.
