Brown’s Saints move falls through

St Helens’ interest in Kevin Brown is thought to have ended.

League Express understands that Saints were close to securing the Widnes star’s services for 2017, but complications meant the deal was eventually called off.

Former Wigan and Huddersfield man Brown remains under contract at the Select Security Stadium, meaning St Helens would have been forced to pay a significant fee to prise him away.

Brown confirmed in the Widnes match programme on Sunday that he would be staying at the Select Security Stadium.

“I think this is the right time to put to bed the recent rumours about my future,” he wrote.

“I am a Widnes Vikings player, Denis Betts gave me a contract until the end of 2018 and I am totally committed to it.”
