Australia beat New Zealand in Perth

Australia secured a comfortable 26-6 win over New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman Test in Perth today, which was played prior to both nations coming to the United Kingdom for the impending Four Nations tournament.

The Australians scored five tries, with two to Greg Inglis, with Darius Boyd, Valentine Holmes and Boyd Cordner scoring one each, with Holmes, the winger from Cronulla, having a particularly impressive international debut. Johnathan Thurston added three goals from five attempts.

The Kiwis scored one try by Kevin Proctor, which was goaled by Issac Luke.

The game was played in front of a sellout crowd of 20,283 at nib Stadium, which will intensify the calls for the NRL to re-establish a team in the West Australian capital.

A full report and analysis of the Trans-Tasman Test will feature in Monday’s edition of League Express.
