Oldham coach Scott Naylor has said that his side’s pairing with local rivals Rochdale at next year’s Summer Bash is the perfect clash for the Roughyeds.
Oldham played Swinton last year at the Bash during their inaugural season in the Championship – but this year, they will face their biggest rivals after the Hornets were automatically promoted out of League 1.
And Naylor told the club’s official website that it will be a fantastic occasion – and he’s already looking forward to it.
He said: “They’re our arch-rivals, so who better?
“We had our first experience of Summer Bash last season and it was a fantastic event over the two days.
“Our game against Swinton will be remembered for different things, but the event itself was terrific and we are looking forward to enjoying it again and to going head to head against our newly-promoted derby rivals.
“You could say it’s just another game on the calendar, but we all know it’s going to be a bit more than that. “It will be a big day for both clubs and a great day for one of them.”
