Catalans Dragons registered one of the shocks of the Rugby League season today, when they inflicted St Helens’ first defeat of the season, 18-10 at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, which means they lose top spot in the Super League table to Warrington Wolves, with both teams now on 16 points from nine games but with the Wolves having the better points difference after their heavy defeat of London Broncos on Friday night.
The Dragons showed a massive improvement on their recent performances, with tries by Fouad Yaha, Sam Tomkins and Tony Gigot, with Tomkins adding two conversions and a penalty, while Saints registered tries through Dominique Peyroux and Tommy Makinson, with one conversion by Lachlan Coote.
In the Championship there were wins for Toronto Wolfpack and Toulouse Olympique, while in League 1 there was a surprise victory for London Skolars, 34-32 over Workington Town at the New River Stadium, while Keighley Cougars were far too strong for West Wales Raiders in Llanelli.
