North Wales Crusaders celebrate centurion Chris Barratt

NORTH WALES CRUSADERS presented captain Chris Barratt with a commemorative trophy and cake to mark the milestone of reaching 100 appearances for the club.

The 32-year-old forward hit a ton in the recent home win over Whitehaven, the club’s first league game at Colwyn Bay this season.

Five of their next six matches are at home, starting with this Sunday’s game against basement boys Newcastle. They have just four away trips remaining in the regular season.

As for Barratt, he turned away offers from elsewhere to pen a new deal at Crusaders last winter.

He first arrived at the club ahead of the Covid-hit 2020 campaign and was part of the side who reached the play-off final in 2023.

Prior to his move to North Wales, Barratt also reached more than a century of appearances for Coventry, before their rebrand to Midlands Hurricanes.

He has improved his try ratio since moving to the Welsh club, notching 26 in his 101 games so far, compared to 20 in 106 for the Bears.
