Adrian Lam shares his concerns after Leigh Leopards’ defeat

ADRIAN LAM has warned his Leigh Leopards side: “If you take your foot off the gas, things can turn.”

An impressive four-match winning run was brought to a halt by a 14-22 home defeat to Leeds Rhinos, after which coach Lam rued the concession of four “soft tries”.

“We put a lot of pressure on ourselves by doing some dumb things at crucial times,” he reflected.

“I didn’t like the last try. That disappointed me most in the whole game.

“I thought Leeds played really well, they were connected as a group and did enough to win, but I just felt that the four tries that they got were really soft.

“We’ve worked really hard on being a team that doesn’t allow those soft tries and if we continue to do that the same results will continue to go against us, so we’ve got to keep our feet grounded and just keep working hard.

“We’ve had a really difficult time. The last quarter of the season has been back-to-back-to-back with top-six teams, so I’m really proud of what we’ve done so far.

“But it’s just a polite reminder that if you take your foot off the gas, things can turn and change quickly. We’ve got to be mindful of that and just make sure that we’re better in these situations in the future.”
