LOGHAN LEWIS hopes to foster the same connection with Bradford Bulls supporters that he had at Salford Red Devils after completing a switch of clubs.
The Australian prop has signed a two-year deal with Bradford, who have replaced Salford in next season’s Super League line-up via the grading system.
Despite playing only 18 games since arriving at Salford midway through the 2024 season, Lewis became a huge fan favourite due to both his physical style of play and his interaction with the club’s fans.
And the 22-year-old wants to do similar at Bartercard Odsal, ideally with team success.
“Having a connection with the fans means everything to me,” explained Lewis.
“I can hear it on the pitch and whenever I hear that support, it gives me an extra boost and that second wind that I need.
“I’ll just try and get the fans involved as much as I can because at the end of the day, they drive me and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the fans.
“I’ve done a little bit of research on the club and seen what they were like in the golden days (of the early 2000s).
“I saw what the club did when they were a powerhouse back in the day and I think we’ve got the people inside the club and the staff around it that can bring that feelgood factor back to the city.”
Lewis joins former Salford team-mates Jayden Nikorima and Ethan Ryan in reuniting with incoming Bulls head coach Kurt Haggerty, who was assistant there under Paul Rowley.
Bradford have also recruited Rowan Milnes, who spent time on loan at Salford last year, and another former Red Devil in Andy Ackers.
Haggerty said: “Loghan’s a fantastic character, he’s a fantastic person and he’ll certainly bring energy to the team and to the club. He’s great to have around the place.
“His biggest strength in his game is his defence. He’s very aggressive and his contact within collisions is very, very tough.
“He also has a point of difference in how fast he plays the ball, so Loghan’s a great acquisition for the club.”
Lewis is Bradford’s second front-row addition of the week after bringing Eribe Doro back from Hull KR.
