Manchester Swinton Lionesses show intent with Aussie signing

CHAMPIONSHIP side Manchester Swinton Lionesses have headed Down Under to strengthen their squad ahead of a promotion push.

Halfback Tamika Bull most recently featured for Newcastle Knights’ NSW Premiership side and Central Charlestown, and has earned representative honours with NSW Country, Gems Country, All Stars and the Indigenous Women’s Academy AIS, as well as for Australia in Tag Rugby.

Signing a rising star from the southern hemisphere is a real signal of intent from the Lionesses, who have real aims of becoming a Super League side in the next couple of years.

“Tamika represents exactly the type of player we want – ambitious, driven and committed to growing in a high-performance environment,” said Lionesses chair Jason Harborow.

“Her journey so far has been outstanding, and we are excited to play a part in the next phase of her development.

“The recruitment of players of Tamika’s calibre reflects our long-term vision and ambition for women’s Rugby League in Greater Manchester, and we’re delighted to welcome her.”

Bull said: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity to join the Manchester Swinton Lionesses.

“From my first conversations with the club, I felt the ambition and the belief in what they’re building.

“I’m excited to challenge myself, keep developing my game, and contribute on and off the field.”
