RYAN MATTERSON will be a Parramatta Eels player in 2026 after building bridges with head coach Jason Ryles.
Matterson spent the end of the 2025 campaign on loan at Super League side Warrington Wolves, and there were some reports that the back-rower could well end up in the northern hemisphere on a permanent basis.
However, after clearing the air with Ryles, who handed Matterson just four appearances during the 2025 NRL season, it is all go for the 31-year-old.
“They mended fences and agreed to start afresh,” an Eels source told Wide World of Sports.
“Ryan is a senior player now and still has a lot of good footy in him.
“He is set for a big season.”
After coming through the ranks at Parramatta, Matterson captained the club’s NYC side in 2014 before stints with the Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers.
He would eventually return to Parramatta in 2020, registering 11 tries in 97 appearances for the Eels.
