Salford add Championship trio on loan

SALFORD have signed three forwards from Championship rivals on loan.

Deacon Connolly, an 18-year-old centre who came through Warrington Wolves’ academy, has joined from Widnes Vikings.

And the Midlands Hurricanes pair of forward Sam Bowring and halfback or hooker Ethan Newboult have signed for the next month.

Widnes boss Allan Coleman said: “The main thing for us is that Deacon is playing regularly. He wants to be at this club, but at the minute we’re doing okay injury-wise in his position.

“It’s vital that he’s getting regular rugby at this level; he’ll be able to develop further playing at Salford, and we can keep an eye on his progress.”

All three have been named in Salford’s squad for Saturday’s Challenge Cup second-round tie at Hammersmith Hills Hoists.
