WAKEFIELD TRINITY coach Daryl Powell believes Matty Storton can become one of Super League’s best in the back row after signing a new four-year deal.
Storton suffered an injury-disrupted first season with the club, missing four months due to a knee injury, but impressed across the 15 appearances he made.
The Bradford Bulls product, who played 105 times in five years for Hull KR, is now committed to Trinity until the end of 2029.
And Powell said: “I’m delighted that Matty has agreed to an extension to his contract.
“He’s been a pleasure to have around and his form last year was some of the best I’ve seen him have in his career.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him grow and drive his standards even further to become one of the premier back-rowers in Super League.”
Storton, 26, said: “Wakefield Trinity is a great club, from the fans to the coaching staff and to Matt (Ellis, owner) and his family. It’s the best decision I ever made joining the club.
“We’ve signed some really good players, and we have a big core of players along with myself that are now signed up long-term.
“The more that we stay together both on and off the field, we’ll just continue to improve as a group and hopefully we can strive for some silverware this season.”
