WIGAN WARRIORS coach Matt Peet was full of praise for centre Adam Keighran after an impressive all-round performance in their 23-22 win over York Knights.
Keighran grabbed a personal haul of ten points thanks to a try and three conversions, but he was also impressive in defence and expertly dealt with a number of short kick-offs in the second half.
“I thought he was brilliant tonight – on both sides of the ball,” said Peet.
“I can understand why people are picking him out. I thought his attack and his defence were brilliant.
“He is physical, intelligent and skilful – he is a good player.”
Peet paid tribute to York and admitted he has been impressed with them in all their matches so far.
“I’m very pleased with the win as we had a bit to overcome,” added Peet.
“York were excellent and they challenged us in every way – ball carries, movement, the kicking game.
“For us to go 14 points behind, and be missing experience in those spine positions, and to find a way to win the way we did, it was a courageous effort.
“We’ll learn quite a bit from how we ended up in that position in the first place, but I’m really proud of the lads for holding their nerve and finding the way back into the game, a lot of which came from fixing up our discipline in the second half.”
