Dewsbury Rams ‘full of confidence’ for big derby after positive start

DEWSBURY RAMS coach Paul March says his side should go into derby action at Batley on Friday “full of confidence” and ready to enjoy the occasion after making an encouraging start to life in the new-look Championship.

The FLAIR Stadium side, who finished fourth in the old League One last season, haven’t won at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium since 2021, when Lee Greenwood oversaw a 31-24 Championship victory.

March’s charges lost 18-0 at home to their neighbours in pre-season, but have four wins from their first seven league games.

He said: “I can’t fault the work ethic and effort levels, and we’ve laid some good foundations, which we now need to build on.”

March added: “Any meeting with Batley is big for us, and while it’s a tough prospect, it’s a match to look forward to and one the players should enjoy.

“We can go there full of confidence, and while they have had the better of the derby over recent years, why shouldn’t we put one over on them?”
