Rochdale Hornets ‘fan favourite’ signs new contract

ROCHDALE HORNETS chairman Andy Mazey is delighted “fan favourite” TJ Boyd has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Boyd arrived at the Hornets from Leigh Leopards during the off-season, and has since gone to score 12 tries in 16 appearances.

A product of Ince Rose Bridge, where he had played his rugby since the age of five, the outside back impressed at reserve team level for Leigh in 2024 and 2025.

And after an impressive campaign so far, the Hornets say they have fended off rival Championship clubs to see Boyd commit.

Mazey said: “I’m very pleased to have extended TJ’s contract until the end of 2028.

“TJ came highly recommended by my good friend Stuart Littler (Leigh’s Reserves coach) and has really hit the ground running this season, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite and popular member of the playing group.

“There is a lot more to come from TJ in the years ahead, and knowing that he will be in a Hornets shirt is very exciting for everyone connected with our club.”

Boyd said: “I’m really happy to get this deal over the line.

“It’s exciting to see where this club is heading, and I’m looking forward to being part of something good which we are all building.

“The challenge now is to keep pushing standards within our playing group, and giving fans the performances they deserve.”
