EAST LEEDS and Moldgreen have both been sanctioned by the Rugby Football League following incidents in their men’s open age fixtures nine days ago.
Easts had three players – Keidan Hartley, Alfie Crawford and Dave Gibbons – sent off in the 30-24 home defeat at the hands of Dewsbury Moor Maroons in the National League First Division.
Meanwhile a reported pitch invasion led to Moldgreen’s National Conference Yorkshire A fixture at Thornhill Trojans being abandoned on 63 minutes. Xander Nash of Moldgreen had previously been red carded for alleged dissent.
The RFL stated: “Following incidents involving East Leeds and Moldgreen on Saturday, May 16, the RFL have taken the decision to suspend Rugby League activity involving open-age, youth and junior teams at both clubs until the weekend of June 6/7. This suspension does not apply to Primary Rugby League age groups.
“The incidents involved unacceptable behaviour, including abandoned fixtures and abuse directed towards match officials.
“Both clubs have engaged in meetings with the RFL constructively and have committed to implementing measures aimed at improving behaviour standards, strengthening matchday management processes and reinforcing respect towards match officials and volunteers across all sections of the club.
“The RFL continue to work closely with clubs across the community game to reinforce standards of behaviour, protect participants and volunteers, and ensure Rugby League remains a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment for all involved.”
