BARROW RAIDERS coach Amanda Wilkinson was full of praise for the latest debutant to get a taste of Super League action.
Under 19 graduate Darcy Southward came off the bench during the 24-30 defeat to Huddersfield, just one day after her 17th birthday.
She has followed in the footsteps of Sam Unsworth and Zara Clough, who also recently made the step up to the first team.
“What a breath of fresh air Darcy was,” said Wilkinson.
“We want to be able to give all our under 19s the chance to represent the club in Super League but I really wanted to give Darcy her debut as she has been waiting to be 17 and old enough to play in this competition.
“She went out there and really didn’t look out of place. There were some really strong carries, she was very good in contact, found the front every time and pushed the match too.
“Her passing and timing were on and she can read the game very well, which really stood out to me. Her work off the ball was good too, and defensively, she was very strong.”
