PNG pair set sights on London Broncos’ title mission

LONDON BRONCOS hope two of their Papua New Guinea contingent, try-scoring fullback Morea Morea – one of three of the club’s Kumuls players who will join NRL newcomers PNG Chiefs for their maiden campaign 2028 – and second rower Jeremiah Simbiken, will be firing on all cylinders by this year’s play-offs.

Along with halfbacks Gairo Voro and Finley Glare, Morea, signed from Queensland Cup side Central Queensland Capras, will depart at the end of next season.

Morea has been a big hit, crossing for 25 league tries – but the 25-year-old, who helped the Kumuls win last year’s Pacific Bowl under Broncos boss Jason Demetriou, has had the brakes applied because of a hamstring injury.

Morea, who has also played for PNG Hunters in the QC, has started his rehabilitation programme and hopes to be back in the reckoning by September.

So does Simbiken, the 25-year-old second rower who was with Castleford last year.

He arrived in recovery from an arm problem, and featured only twice for the Broncos before sustaining a knee issue.

Simbiken enjoyed play-off success with Brisbane side Norths Devils in the QC in 2024, when the title was claimed with a 20-18 win over Newtown Jets.

Another second rower Jack Croft is closing in on a comeback from a fractured foot sustained eleven matches into his time at the club following a move from Wakefield.

The 25-year-old said: “I’m out of the boot, so I’ve been able to step things up.

“I’ve had a few big injuries before and that’s helped me stay on top of the situation mentally, and the injured boys have supported each other.”

London’s final regular-season game against Swinton will be on Saturday, September 5 at Richmond Athletic Ground.
