HALIFAX PANTHERS boss Kyle Eastmond has demanded more from his players after feeling as though their performance against Swinton Lions on Sunday was “not good enough”.
Castleford loanee Jenson Windley starred as Halifax bounced back from a heavy 50-12 defeat to Doncaster a week prior, but they left it late to get over the line in an eventual 30-22 victory – their second late show against the Lions in a month.
Swinton had fought back from 22-12 to level the scores heading into the final 15 minutes, only for a Darius Carter penalty-goal and Ben Crooks converted try to tip the scoreline in the hosts’ favour and move them into positive points for the first time since their 12-point deduction.
And whilst pleased with some aspects of Halifax’s performance, Eastmond was disappointed by the way his side let Swinton back into the contest in the second half.
“I’m pleased that we managed to find a way to put the game to bed in the end,” he said.
“In terms of performance, I thought that there were some good bits that we’ve been working on, but overall, it’s not going to be good enough to beat a top-four team in this league.
“I thought we tried to execute in the right way and we came up with some nice scores, but overall, that’s not a performance that gets you excited.
“For me, that’s a performance that’s a stuttering and spluttering kind of win, it’s not good enough to me.”
