NORTH WALES CRUSADERS general manager Conrad Anderson believes forging a union with the 15-a-side code can help grow Rugby League in the region.
The Colwyn Bay club are holding junior rugby festivals around two of their forthcoming home fixtures.
On Sunday, youngsters from local union clubs Llandudno, Denbigh, Llangefni, Nant Conwy, Rhyl and Wrexham will be involved, as well as from League’s Halton Farnworth Hornets, based close to Crusaders’ visitors Widnes.
On Sunday, August 2, when Goole visit, a second festival will feature Llandudno, Llangefni, Wrexham, Rhyl and Caernarfon.
The Crusaders’ foundation will reintroduce their community rugby hubs later this year, further boosting development.
“One of the strongest and most important parts of these festivals is the collaboration between Rugby League and union,” said Anderson.
“Both codes have a proud history, strong communities and people who care deeply about the future of the sport.
“There is far more that unites us than divides us, and it is fantastic to see local rugby union clubs working alongside North Wales Crusaders to create these opportunities for young players.
“By working together, sharing ideas and supporting one another, we can help rugby grow across North Wales and give more children the chance to fall in love with the game.”
