Salford’s final home game to form part of double header with Wigan Warriors

SALFORD will play their final home game of the regular Championship season in a double header with Wigan Warriors at The Brick Community Stadium.

The matches will be played on Saturday, August 8, with Salford taking on Swinton Lions from 2pm, before Wigan face Toulouse Olympique in Super League at 5.30pm.

Salford were due to host Swinton on August 9, but planned pitch renovations at the CorpAcq Stadium have forced the fixture to be moved elsewhere.

It’s not a decision that has been taken lightly by the club, who say that a number of options were considered once it became clear the fixture would have to be moved.

“This isn’t about simply finding somewhere to play,” said CEO Ryan Brierley.

“If we’re asking our fans to travel away from home, it had to be for something worth making the journey for.

“Playing at one of Rugby League’s great stadiums as part of a Super League double header gives us the chance to create a real occasion for our players and our fans.”
