KEIGHLEY COUGARS hope the additions of Mac Walsh, Brad Clavering and Josh Jordan-Roberts will provide a boost for the final month of the regular Championship season.
Centre Walsh has enjoyed spells with Newcastle Thunder, Whitehaven and Toulouse Olympique, whilst Clavering arrives at Cougar Park from North Wales Crusaders.
Fellow forward Jordan-Roberts has u-turned on his retirement, having called time on his career after spending last season with Midlands Hurricanes.
The Cougars, who lost both Lachlan Lanskey and Emmanuel Waine to injury in their rearranged match against Dewsbury in midweek, hope to return to the winners’ circle for the first time since May at Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday.
They are 16th in the table, six points off the play-off positions, having won just four of their 19 games.
Despite results not going their way, coach Ian Hardman believes his side can take heart from their recent performances.
“I think we can take a lot out of the last two games,” he said.
“I thought the team competed really well for the full 80 minutes, there have just been some critical moments we have not been able to capitalise on.
“There were some big momentum swings in those games that ultimately decided the outcome.
“In terms of our effort, our hard work, commitment and fight are key indicators of a team that is trying as hard as we can.
“We just need that little bit more quality in those moments.”
