THERE will be a second Super League fixture taking place in Dublin next April, not just Warrington Wolves’ historic clash with Wigan Warriors.

In a live press conference, which confirmed the clash between Wigan and Warrington at the Laya Arena on Saturday, April 24, Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick revealed that another Super League game will be scheduled for Sunday, April 25.

Fitzpatrick said: “There will be a second game on Sunday, but we are not in a position to announce who that will be yet.

“There will be a game on Saturday (Wigan v Warrington) and a game on Sunday.

“I can confirm that there will be four Super League teams making the trip to Dublin.”

Reports suggest Hull FC will contest the second match of the weekend double-header, with Wakefield Trinity among clubs also said to be interested in the trip to Ireland.

Fitzpatrick continued: “This is another landmark moment for our club, for Super League and for the sport of rugby league.

“Following the success of the Las Vegas and Paris projects, and the appetite shown for taking our game to new audiences, Dublin is the perfect next destination.

“It is a world-class sporting city with a proven track record of hosting major international events and provides another outstanding opportunity to showcase our sport on the big stage.

“This is about much more than 80 minutes of rugby league. It’s an opportunity to create another unforgettable experience for our supporters, attract new audiences and continue building the profile of Super League beyond its traditional heartlands.”
