SAM BURGESS believes that Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors could take a game anywhere and make a success of it.
Burgess’ comments come following the announcement that the two clubs will be heading to Dublin for a Super League fixture in April next year.
That fixture will see Warrington lose a home game, just as Wigan did when the two clubs went to Las Vegas back in 2024.
And for Burgess, the success of both clubs in trying to expand the game should be heralded.
“We’re excited. Both clubs are really ambitious and we are trying to expand the game,” Burgess said.
“I guess it’s great to have a good relationship between the two clubs and both clubs have a great rivalry, too.
“We can take the game anywhere in the world and it will be a success, but I think more than anything it will be a really enjoyable weekend.
“Both teams will be very well prepared so it’s another chance to create memories around a great game.”
Burgess, who had a spell in rugby union with Bath and England, has explained how he is excited to return to the Irish capital, having only been there once in his lifetime.
“I’ve only been once to Dublin so I am looking forward to going back,” Burgess continued.
“I played there in 2015 when I was with Bath. We played against Leinster in the European Cup semi-final.
“I did stay for the weekend so it’s going to be a magical weekend with great memories, great music.
“The Irish are a wonderful people with a great sense of humour. I can’t wait.”
Meanwhile, Warrington have recalled prop Max Wood from his loan at Hull FC.
Wood comes into contention for Thursday’s visit of York Knights, the first of three Wire fixtures in ten days.
