HUDDERSFIELD coach Nathan Graham will continue to work with his England counterpart Stuart Barrow to give Giants fullback Amelia Brown every chance of making the World Cup squad at the end of the year.
Brown missed out on the trip to France for last month’s mid-season Test due to an ankle injury, but will be keen to regain her spot when the squad travel Down Under in October.
Having missed the last two Super League games before the split, Brown returned to the squad to face Barrow, but was named 18th player as Huddersfield got their Shield campaign underway.
“Amelia picked up the injury against Featherstone, which was really disappointing because she would have been in the England squad for the France game if she was fit,” said Graham, who believes Brown will be ready to return against Leigh on Saturday.
“She’s an outstanding athlete and one of best players in the Super League competition so now it’s about getting herself right and getting some good performances under her belt so that she can challenge for a World Cup squad place.
“I know Stuart pretty well and I have spoken to him a few times about what he wants to see from Amelia and I think we’re pretty good with how we treat her and how we teach her, so hopefully she will get a spot.”
