Injuries compound defeat for ‘very, very tired’ Hull KR

WILLIE PETERS admitted it was a “very tired” Hull KR who were beaten 32-12 by Toulouse Olympique.

Due to Tuesday’s rearranged game against Warrington Wolves, which the Robins also lost, Peters’ men were playing a third game in nine days.

As well as a result which leaves them far from assured of a play-off place, Hull KR are also counting the injury cost of their exertions.

“We’re a very, very tired footy team, there’s no doubt about that,” said the coach.

“We have played every single week this year and we are currently in a block of four games in a 15-day period. We go to Wigan on Thursday in the last game of the four-game block and you can see we are tired.

“We only have the option now to push through and keep going, but it does make it difficult when we’ve got people on the sidelines.

“James Batchelor has done his hamstring and Ryan Hampshire has broken his wrist. Dean Hadley has a groin problem so we will have to see how that pulls up, and I will assess the others.”

On his side’s ill-discipline during the game, Peters added: “That’s non-negotiable now for us.

“I’ve spoken to them around our discipline and it was poor. In that first half we conceded eight penalties, six of which were yardage penalties. Some of that we’re in control of, some of it we’re not.

“We were brave in the first half but we conceded soft tries in the second half.

“All credit to Toulouse, I thought they played well. They ran hard and asked us questions.”
