THE Rugby Football League will hail eight volunteers, and one amateur club, towards the end of October.
The award winners, who will be formally announced at the end of October, will be feted at club events throughout the autumn.
Before that, they will be guests of the RFL at the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Saturday, October 3.
Members of the RFL’s Community Game Strategic Advisory Group (formerly the RFL Community Board) will vote for each winner after considering a list of nominations submitted by grassroots clubs and organisations.
The categories, and nominations, are:
Volunteer of the Year: Mike Woods (Thatto Heath Crusaders), Michelle Dalton (Upton), Mark Hobin MBE (Portico Vine).
Coach of the Year: Andrew Garnett (Blackpool Stanley), Barry Barton (Haresfinch), Kieron Hammond (Woodlands Warriors).
Junior Coach of the Year: Dean Arundel (Dewsbury Moor Maroons), James Hamer (King Cross Park), Mark Wells (Warrington Girls).
Women and Girls Champion: Becki Thresh (Stanley Rangers), Sarah Abbott (Bassetlaw Bulldogs), Aimee Wood (Widnes Vikings).
Groundsperson of the Year: Noel Dean (Doncaster Toll Bar), Gerard Hurst (Shevington Sharks), Simon Lumb (King Cross Park).
Social RL Volunteer of the Year: John Paul Thompson (Westhoughton Lions), Jack Stearman (Pocklington Touch), Tony Prescott (Edinburgh Cannons).
Our League Life Award: Jake Webster (Widnes Masters), Paul Farrell (West Bank Bears), Shaw Cross Sharks
Tackle It Award: Becci Nicholls (Warrington Girls), Jake Webster (Widnes Masters), Axel Foley (Accrington Wildcats).
Community Club of the Year: Shaw Cross Sharks, Portico Vine, Dewsbury Celtic.
