BRAD ARTHUR believes overcoming St Helens has put his side in the perfect position to face Wigan Warriors in Saturday’s League Leaders’ Shield decider.
Leeds stormed to a 34-6 win over Saints, who now face missing out on knockout rugby for the first time in Super League history.
It was the Rhinos’ first away victory against them since 2023, and coach Arthur felt his side handled the occasion well.
“We talked about being aggressive, lifting the intensity levels and I thought we did that,” he said.
“We had some penalties but we managed to stay composed and defend them – that was a good test for us.
“We can learn from that. If we can withstand the pressure for three or four sets, which we’re going to have against Wigan, it can help you when you get down the other end of the field.
“We’re excited… this is the moment we have been waiting for.
“They deserve it and we just have to go and work hard now.”
It remains to be seen what part Danny Levi plays in the run-in after the hooker was withdrawn on his comeback match after more than a month out with a neck injury.
“He felt like he wasn’t strong enough, so we’ll have to wait and see,” explained Arthur. “He’ll have scans and see where he’s at.”
