ADRIAN LAM rued Leigh Leopards’ worst performance “for three or four months” after their top-four hopes had a major setback at Huddersfield Giants.
“I’m pretty frustrated, to be honest with you, and disappointed,” said the Leigh coach after their 30-18 defeat.
“It was hard to watch, just nothing like what we’ve been over the last four months.
“I thought Huddersfield were great. They were very physical and on point with the way that they played.
“It’s probably the worst we’ve played for the last three or four months.
“I’m not about to get angry at them. This team has been incredible over the last four months. They’ve been resilient through a really difficult season.
“Sometimes when you win by 60 points (they beat Bradford Bulls 62-10) it can hurt you the next week. It’s turned around and bit us on the bum.”
Lam did take issue with Huddersfield’s first try, scored by Harry Rushton but with claims of an obstruction by Fenton Rogers.
He said: “I thought it was a no-try. To get that wrong in such an important game is just unacceptable.”
Leigh are fighting with Wakefield Trinity, who they host in the final round, and Hull KR for positions, with St Helens next up at home on Friday.
“Nothing’s in our control,” added Lam. “All we can control is the 80 minutes next week and how we respond.”
