INTERIM St Helens boss Eamon O’Carroll was frustrated by the way his side’s play-off hopes slipped away with a 34-6 defeat at home to Leeds Rhinos.
“I’m more disappointed with the nature of how that got away from us,” he said.
“It is not dead yet, so we will still attack that, but I think putting some things in place for the future of the club is what is really important.
“For a period, we took a step back and it is really important that we address that.”
O’Carroll also felt Saints were their own worst enemies as they fell to their eleventh defeat of the season.
“In some of our end of sets, we were really lateral at times like we were chasing points,” he said.
“The start to the second half wasn’t great and I think we contributed massively to our downfall.”
