SYLVAIN HOULES has said he would quit Rugby League if Toulouse Olympique were now booted out of Super League.
Toulouse secured an impressive eighth-place finish in the table despite losing their final game on Friday, 26-14 at Warrington Wolves.
They finished with a record of ten wins in 27, placing above Catalans Dragons on points difference to be the best team in France for the first time since joining the RFL system.
Their only previous Super League campaign came in 2022 and only lasted one year, with a bottom-placed finish meaning relegation.
Now it’s down to club gradings, in which Toulouse last year ranked 13th. As it stands, they need to be in the top 14 to maintain their top-flight berth.
While chief executive Cedric Garcia recently reiterated his confidence that they will achieve that, Houles – who has been Toulouse coach since 2014 – admitted: “Nothing is confirmed.
“But finishing eighth – if we are not in Super League, I think I won’t be involved in Rugby League again.”
