TOM INMAN has become the third player to sign a permanent contract with York Knights after impressing on loan from partner club Newcastle Thunder.
The hooker began his professional career with York in 2022 after developing in the Warrington Wolves youth system, then spent more than three years with hometown club Halifax Panthers.
When Halifax were wound up in February, Inman joined Newcastle and made twelve appearances, impressing enough to earn a Super League debut in May.
That turned out to be the first of 13 games for the Knights, all as starting hooker, before a knee injury in August ended his season prematurely.
He’s now agreed a two-year York deal, just like David Nofoaluma – another player signed after the collapse of the old Halifax club – and Cody Hunter, both of whom have been playing at the top level on loan from Newcastle.
York head coach Mark Applegarth said: “I’m really glad Tom has taken his chance.
“He’s a kid that I’ve watched from age 16 at Warrington and it’s really good to see him transferring what we all knew he could do into Super League.”
Inman, 23, said: “I’ve loved my first year in Super League with York and I’m really excited to have signed for the next two years.”
