WIGAN WARRIORS go head-to-head with York Valkyrie in the Women’s Super League Grand Final on Sunday.
With the game taking place at The Brick Community Stadium, Wigan go into this fixture as heavy favourites – but they lost to York last time out, two weeks ago.
The Warriors are also reigning champions and are aiming for a repeat of last year’s successes when they won the treble by finishing as Challenge Cup winners, as well as winning the League Leaders’ Shield and Grand Final.
Meanwhile, it’s the Valkyrie’s fourth Grand Final appearance in five years, having last appeared in 2024, when they beat St Helens 16-6 to claim back-to-back titles.
Whilst Wigan had a week off after finishing top, York – who came third in the regular season – cemented their place in the Grand Final with a hard-fought 12-0 win over Leeds Rhinos last Friday.
But they will have to manage without star fullback Tara Jane Stanley, who suffered a head injury late on in that semi-final.
Wigan, meanwhile, are without Kelsey Gentles, due to a hand injury, and Ruby Hunter for the decider.
