GOOLE VIKINGS are keeping hold of Mackenzie Harman for their third season in the professional ranks.
Like the also-retained Callum Rutland, a halfback or hooker, Harman, who is primarily a stand-off but can play a variety of roles in the backs, has been with the club since they entered League One last year.
After finishing seventh in the old third tier in 2025, Goole were 14th in the merged section this time around, and new coach Brett Ferres, who succeeds Scott Taylor, has been tasked with building on those foundations.
A product of the Skirlaugh community club, 21-year-old Harman came through the ranks at his home-city club Hull FC, gaining senior experience via loan spells at Newcastle and Rochdale.
He has played 33 times for Goole, explaining his move to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds has rekindled his appetite for the game after a difficult end to his time at Hull.
“I’m really grateful to be given a new contract here at the Vikings,” he said.
“I don’t feel like I’ve reached my full potential yet, I know I have a lot more to give.
“My time at Goole has been quite challenging with injuries, so I’m hoping for a problem-free year to prove it to myself and the team.
“We’re well-gelled and have all been on the same page since day one.
“I’m sure Brett, who is a no-nonsense guy and has been around the game for a very long time, will help get my rugby to where it needs to be and do whatever is best for the team to take the next step.”
Goole have also agreed contract extensions with ex-Leeds playmaker Shane Tuohey (to 2028) and former Warrington hooker Oliver Morgan (2027).
